Laura Vaillancourt, founder of Eldercare Counseling & Guidance Services.

Meet Laura,

Laura began her private practice in 2012 after working several years in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and dementia unit settings. She recognized a need in the community for guidance when navigating difficult decisions in the complex world of aging.

She has extensive experience as a consultant, coach, and providing counseling and care management to families that are in the midst of making difficult decisions related to their loved one’s care and health transitions. She also hosts the popular Life on Repeat podcast for dementia caregivers.

Her passion and her experience have been working with individuals and family members who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

Laura is a passionate speaker and educator about many aging-related topics - she has presented at numerous conferences and has also been interviewed on a variety of podcasts and publications.

She has been a contracted provider with the South Sound Alzheimer’s Council, Washington State Home and Community Services, Area Agency on Aging’s Family Caregiver Support Program, and WA State Dept of Labor and Industries.

She has participated as a clinician in NYU’s Family Caregiver Study and educates physicians in residency at Providence St Peter's Hospital for their geriatric rotation.

She was nominated by her community and peers for the 2019 Dennis Mahar Memorial Community Caregiver Award, an award that exemplifies community service and outstanding leadership in the South Sound community.  Laura continues to participate in creative endeavors that better the lives of older adults and their families.

Thoughtful Words

  • "Laura Vaillancourt is a gift in our community. She has been there for many of my clients, whether I referred them to her for confidential counseling or I needed guidance myself with regard to the best ways to advocate for older clients and their families through my own practice as a Guardian. We share a mutual interest in older client advocacy and support, and it is a pleasure to lend occasional mutual support to each other. I am proud to call Laura a professional colleague, a personal confidant, and, oftentimes, a creative co-problem solver".
    — Melanie R., Certified Public Guardian

  • "Laura and her team are amazing and provide one of a kind services. My family will be forever appreciative of her guidance and support during the most challenging time of our lives".

    — Don K., family member

  • "My family had no idea what to do or where to start. I was given Laura's name and after our meeting, I felt like a weight had been lifted. I left with a plan and clear direction, but most importantly, I felt heard and supported".

    — Cheryl F., family member

  • "I have had a very good relationship with Eldercare who are very professional and attentive to my clients. The counselors go above and beyond to meet the needs of my clients. I have worked with them for several years and have never been disappointed nor have my clients".
